What’s up, my little food enthusiasts?! Why did I say obrigado twice? Obrigado means “thank you” in Portuguese. As I was searching through instagram new and cute places to eat, I came across to this shop called Obrigado, and what better way to thank your body with some good healthy foods while you indulge yourself? Obrigado is a local shop in Plaza Olmedo near Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico Recinto Metro. Did I mention Obrigado is also near a Starbucks?! This shop is in the perfect place for college students and for everyone.
First, let’s get this straight out of the bat, their juices are 100% natural. I am not kidding, it is 100% natural, this isn’t a drill. And plus, who does not love drinking from a mason jar?! I did not expect that their apple juice would take me to nirvana… and I don’t often drink juice. My mom, Mrs. Antonmattei, ordered the lemonade which was insanely good. No ,it isn’t Crystal Light or Wyler’s Light, it is all natural. What I completely love about these juices is that sometimes when you buy juices on the market, you are normally drinking a ton of sugar. This, however, does not taste like your eating a cube of sugar. That is what I love about these.
Enough about me blabbing about the juices, their menu has such a WIDE variety and I’m not even kidding when I say a WIDE. VARIETY.
ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME?! So many options, so many delicious foods, so… healthy! And they even have their brunch section which is what they’re known for. My mom and I woke up with a craving for brunch so we sticked to their menu and let’s just pause for a moment that they have açaí and waffles together… Yeah, that’s a thing! My guaynabita heart was throbbing for the açaí.
So I ordered, guess which one? Ding, ding, ding, the Waffle Açaí bowl! Now, I am normally the person who doesn’t mix salty foods with sweets but my momma is a die-hard fan about the iconic combo so she chose the Huevos Revueltos. Everything sounded so appetizing, I honestly wanted them all… Really!!
My dish had:
- Whole wheat waffle
- Organic Hazelnut Butter
* You can add two fruits of your choice, I just really like these two fruits for my açaí. You can add: mango, kiwi, blueberries, etc… My recommendation is that you put bananas with your açaí because the sweetness of the banana can even out the powerful tartness the açaí has.
Moving to the salty/sweet side:
- Scrambled Eggs
- A side of potatoes
- Maple Syrup
Anyone who loves the salty/sweet combo would L O V E this pairing so much. My mom and I wanted more food but our stomachs were full and happy.
Overall, the place is really nice, cute and comfy. It has a large black wall with positive quotes such as this one:
I honestly love this place and I know that I said the word “love” a lot of times in this post but just so you know that there are no words to describe how deeply I am in love with this place. It is healthy, it has a wide variety of foods, their brunch is amazing, their service is exquisite, the environment is cozy, what more can you ask? On a scale of 5, I would rate a 10! I recommend this place to everyone. I came with high expectations and it did not disappoint me whatsoever. This place is the bomb and I love the fact that they always put in their captions #ApoyaLoLocal. Always support your local business people. Obrigado, from this day forward, you have yourself a new loyal customer.
¡Obrigado! Thank you. ¡Gracias!
Seriously, look at me looking at that apple juice with such passion like it’s a new jevo!
